The moon's phase is nearly the same for everyone on Earth, but moonrise and moonset are not — they shift with your latitude, longitude and timezone, sometimes by hours, and on some days the moon never rises or never sets at all. This calendar computes rise and set for your exact coordinates, and shows illumination at local noon so consecutive days compare cleanly.

- When is the best moon for landscape photography?
- Both ends. A new moon keeps the sky dark for stars and the Milky Way; a full moon rising at sunset gives you a lit foreground and a dramatic subject. The highlighted rows mark the principal phases each month.
- Why does moonrise jump ~50 minutes each day?
- The moon orbits Earth in about 29.5 days, so it falls behind the sun by roughly 50 minutes of clock time per day — which is also why a "moonrise" can be missing: some local days simply don't contain one.
- Is the illumination percentage the same everywhere?
- Very nearly. It changes with time, not with your position, so we timestamp it at your local noon. Rise and set, by contrast, are computed for your exact spot.
